Issue 3 of our Wealth Hacks of the Elite series focused on leverage across multiple dimensions: financial, operational, network, time & technology.

Most people only think of financial leverage… borrowing money at a lower cost vs the return you earn - all of which magnifies your total return. Part I was all about explaining where operational leverage comes from, how network leverage and technology leverage come into play, etc…

Now we’re going to drill deeper into the specifics of building out this leverage, and then how to maximize the overlapping effects from using it in your Wealth System.

I'm going to use a real life example company and walk through how they leverage leverage itself.

But understanding the individual components of leverage, like knowing the ingredients of a complex recipe, is only the first step.

True culinary mastery – and true wealth creation – comes from combining those ingredients in the right proportions, at the right time, to create something far greater than the sum of its parts. It's not enough to simply have leverage; you must layer it, strategically weaving together different forms of leverage to achieve exponential results. To illustrate this powerful concept, we'll examine a real-world case study: Airbnb, the home-sharing giant that revolutionized the hospitality industry.

Airbnb began, as many disruptive ventures do, with a deceptively simple idea: a platform connecting people who had spare rooms or homes with travelers seeking alternative accommodations, all managed through a user-friendly website.

What started with air mattresses on a San Francisco apartment floor quickly blossomed into a global phenomenon, disrupting the hotel industry and achieving a valuation in the tens of billions. This wasn't a matter of luck or being in the right place at the right time. It was the direct result of a meticulously planned and executed strategy: the strategic application of layered leverage.

Let’s follow Airbnb's journey, stage by stage, to reveal the precise mechanisms by which they multiplied their resources and achieved extraordinary growth.

We’ve discussed in depth the powerful wealth building leverage that business ownership provides. That wealth builds as you gain mastery over leverage. Airbnb’s founder Brian Chesky has been an artful user of leverage for over two decades.
